Mr Teo Yew Chye
Chief Trainer/Cognitive Psychologist

A cognitive psychologist by training, Yew Chye was a former researcher with the Psychology Department, University of Western Australia. He is a Certified Master Trainer in a web-based version of learning styles developed by Performance Concepts International (US) particularly for the corporate and youth market. In addition, Yew Chye is also an accredited Facilitator in the use of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI Qualified, APT Qualifying Training Program, 2003).
Yew Chye’s life-long interest in human learning has led him to earn a Certificate in ‘Introduction to Critical Thinking for Instruction and Learning’ from the Foundation for Critical Thinking (US), the leading international group for the teaching of thinking skills in the world. He has also received professional certification in Multiple Intelligences in Classroom from Wide World/ Harvard University (US). Yew Chye is currently undergoing professional development in the Certificate in Clinical Hypnosis - accredited by University of Greenwick (UK), Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and the British Accreditation Council of Higher and Further Education.
Previously, Yew Chye was the Founding Vice-Chairman, and later Chairman of the Singapore Ergonomics Society from 1986 to 1991. Between 2004 and 2005, he served as the Chairman of the LifeSkills Committee for the Boys Brigade in Singapore, as well as a Council Member/Acting Treasurer of the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS).
In terms of professional involvement, Yew Chye was the first Singaporean to be admitted as a Board Member on the International Learning Styles Network (ILSN) - the leading international governing board of scientific researchers and practitioners from around the world (2003 to 2007).
In 2003, Yew Chye became the first Asian to be certified to conduct the Adaptiv! Resilience Training for Corporation! Youth. He is the Master Trainer in the ‘High Impact Arete’ - Resilience cum Personal Protection’ programme’ that has been critically acclaimed. Yew Chye has trained over 20,000 students, teachers and parents in both the learning styles and resilience methodologies over the last 5 years.
In 2004, Yew Chye was awarded the recognition of Emerging Enterpreneur of the Year (2004) by CommerceNet Singapore, under the E-Global Awards. In 2005, Yew Chye was elected as a Member! Deputy Secretary of the EXCO Committee of the elite EDB Society and continues to serve as its Board Member. He is a Life Member of the EDB Society and the Stanford University Alumni (US).
Yew Chye’s personal passion is in the promotion of youth entrepreneurship and the life-long learning of martial arts. In 2005 and 2006, he served as the Panel Judge for the North-East CDC (Singapore) in the promotion of youth entrepreneurship. In addition, he facilitated the set up of a Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme (YES) at Anderson Junior College, and continues to serve as a Mentor. In 2006, he was instrumental in the founding of the Faber-Castell Akademie, a division of the 245-year old German conglomerate.
In terms of his life-long personal interest in martial arts, Yew Chye holds a black belt in Tae-kwondo, and has received formal training in Savate (French kick-boxing), Wing Chun (Southern Shaolin Kungfu), Bahad Zu’Bu Mangtas Baraw (Filipino Stick and Combat Blade) and Mixed Martial Arts. He is a certified instructor in a reality-based fighting system known as Dynamic
Combat Method (used by the Arizona SWAT Team and US Special Forces), and is also a certified trainer in SAMBO (Russian unarmed combat) by the Asian SAMBO Federation. Yew Chye is the first Singaporean to be a certified KAPAP Instructor (the martial arts of the Israeli Special Forces) and is authorized to run the only KAPAP Academy in Singapore. He is also a practitioner of the AMOK! knife-fighting system.
Yew Chye has also authored two books: the highly acclaimed Workbook on ‘Fighting off Test Anxiety’, written for parents and teachers to impart both cognitive and behavioural skills to their young charges (published by Pearson Education); and another titled ‘Girl Power!’ a personal protection guidebook written for ladies of all ages (to be published). The latter was co-authored together with
GrandMaster/ Founder of the Dynamic Combat Method, Richard Ryan.
He is the Founder/ Chief Executive of the Centre for Cognitive Technologies (CCT), a research based training consultancy in Singapore that specialises in cognitive and behavioural skills training designed to improve human potential and performance. CCT is affiliated to the East-West Learning Enterprises (Singapore) – the leadership-corporate training and educational arm of the global organization, IMC Pan Asia Alliance. CCT was started in 2001 under the Economic Development Board’s (EDB) Start-up Enterprise Development Sceme, a $50 million co-financing scheme initiated by the government of Singapore.
CCT is the sister company to Psychological Publishing Co Ltd – Taiwan’s leading distributor of psychological tests and educational publications established by a group of distinguished scholars from Taiwan.
