  • Introduction

The Centre for Cognitive Technologies (CCT) is a regional training and research centre that is dedicated to the improvement of human potential and performance. CCT is the culmination of collaborative efforts by scientific researchers, psychologists, medical doctors and experienced field practitioners or business consultants.

All the programmes provided by CCT are evidence based, and developed after extensive research conducted. As such, they are sound in scientific principles and techniques, and represent the latest know-how known to Man today.

One of the key success factors behind CCT' is that unlike most market players in the training sector, the organisation enjoys the support of leading University based research teams from both America and Australia. Two dedicated research units that are principally responsible for the development and on-going research of CCT's proprietary programmes are the Unit for Congnitive Technology (UCT) and its in-house Medical and Psychological Unit (MPU). In addition, CCT also enjoys the research support of leading American scientists from Adaptiv Learning Systems/University of Pennsylvania (US), and the Building of Excelence (US).

Attesting to the credibility and quality of our training programmes, CCT is a Start-up Enterprise Development Scheme, awarded by the Economic Deveopment Board of Singapore. The Start-up is a $50 million co-financing scheme initiated by the government. The scheme matches dollar for dollar equity stakes in promising start-ups backed by third-party sector investor.

Reflecting on the credibility of our programmes, several of our Singapore based centres were established with the funding from SPRING Singapore, a major government investment/entrepreneurial promotion agency, for the financial subsidies under the Franchise21 Scheme.

In 2004, CCT and its key management won three awards, Emerging Enterprise of the Year (2004), Emerging Entrepreneur if the Year (2004), and a Merit Award for Emerging Young Entrepreneur of the Year (2004)- awarded by the CommerceNet Singapore – the secretariat for CommerceNet Asia, which in turn is part of a leading non-profit global consortium established to advance eBusiness worldwide. With a membership of over 660 coporate entities, the consortium is commited to promote cross border commerce and the intergration of technology in a knowledge based economy.

Within Singapore, our programmes enjoy government subsidies for training participation under the Edusave Scheme (Ministry of Education). Some of these programmes have also been given in-principle financial support under the cluster Funds by selected Superintendents of School Clusters. In addition, a number of our coporate training programmes have also recieved approval for grants from LETAS Scheme administered by SPRING Singapore.

Currently, the organisation has 12 independent Learning Styles Centres in Singapore, 2 subsidiary Master Centres (Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne), 1 independent Master Licensee (Sydney) and 1 Local Licensee (Kuala Lumpur) in the region.

In addition, there are 7 BabyBright Centres within Singapore, and a Master Licensee for Malaysia. Another subsidiary, Building Excellence Sdn Bhd, has been set up to help distribute our corporate performance programmes in Kuala Lumpur / Selangor. This company is seeking Category A status (SBL grant) award by the Malaysian authorities.

This brings our total franchised or licensed operations to 24 Learning Styles, BabyBright and Building Excellence Centres in the region.

A regional corporate office is currently in the process of being set up in Shanghai – Centre for Cognitive Technologies, Shanghai. This organisation is to spearhead our market penetration of our early child development, education and coporate development programmes within the Chinese market.

Finally, the organization has a longstanding research arrangement with the international LearningStyles Network/St.John's University where CCT wil be contributing annually to support international cross-cultural research in Learning Styles for this region.

Our Youth, Our Future

As CCT was founded on social entrepreneurial principles, the organization has embarked on a number of projects to achieve this broader mission. They include: the support of research collaborations with universities both internationally and in the region; and the creation of a Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme (YES...!) where young individuals are given opportunities to develop their interest in entreneurship in a hands-on way, as well as groomed to develop their own businesses over time.

Recognising the contributions of CCT's "YES...!" programme, the company was awarded Emerging Enterprise of the Year, E-gobal Award for its contribution to the promotion of youth entrepreneurship.
